New York Lakers – President and Secretary
This is the time of year that most Laker activities move to Florida. We left Rochester, New York around the end of January for southwest Florida to visit friends/family for a week or two. This turned into five weeks as we visited all the Lakers in the area. A group of us toured Solomon’s Castle in south central Florida. If you have never been there, it is a fascinating trip. A man with no formal training created a castle made mostly from junk and scrap from local farmers. He then created artwork to fill the castle. These projects required metalworking, sculpting, woodworking, painting, welding and more. Probably the only place you will see an elephant made from 55 gal barrels and still looks like a real elephant. Well worth a visit. As this is published we will be heading through Pensacola, New Orleans, Jackson, Nashville and Columbus as we travel back to Rochester.
The Lakers have three rallies scheduled for the year. A fourth rally is in the works to celebrate the Laker’s 25th Anniversary.
May 20-22, Southwoods RV Resort, Byron, New York
June 16-19, Camp Bell Campground, Campbell, New York
October 15-17, Genesee Country Campground, Caledonia New York
