Larry & Mary Roberts (21041)
Region One Directors
Greetings to all! Since last we communicated with you we have attended a couple of rallies. First, we attended the Arizona Sun Catchers Rally at Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande. Our Sun Catcher Chapter finds very interesting excursions and activities, and this time they out did themselves. We had a presentation and a visit to a Dwarf Car Museum, fully functional cars built to about a 60% scale with fantastic fabrication and finish. The Trailer Park Tragedy murder mystery may be beyond explanation – suffice it to say we have some creative members. Our meals created by Arizona State Director Duane Paige and his crew were phenomenal.
Next, we dropped by the Tucson Newmar members’ luncheon hosted by Martha Willis and saw some familiar faces and swapped Newmar stories. Then it was onto the New Mexico State/Chapter Rally in Silver City, New Mexico. Jim & Lorie Landers, State Directors, along with Ron & Cindy Miller, Chapter Presidents, put on a really fun rally with a couple of very New Mexican excursions and excellent meals including a chili cook-off that had great participation, and Bob Wilkerson took 1st place. Cindy Wilkerson led the group in a lovely directed art lesson of a desert scene. She’s a great artist and teacher. Ron & Cindy Miller went above and beyond. Their coach was in the shop waiting for parts to arrive, so they stayed in a hotel near the park and actually celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with all of us during the rally. Congrats on such a huge milestone!
We ventured to Monterey, California for the 49ers Chapter Rally. The weather was beautiful for the four days of the rally and the excursions were terrific. We took a cruise on an electric catamaran in the Elk Horn Slough to see native wildlife that included many sea otters at play. Several of us took side trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to see a new exhibit of deep-sea creatures that have never been exhibited before. The food at the rally was incredible including a crab feed sponsored by Tom Lindstrom RV. Great job Tom & Nancy Wills and Danny & Merri Estrada!
Next up for Mary & I along with many of you from Region One, will be the International Rally in Rock Springs, Wyoming. If you haven’t signed up as yet, there is still time to register and join many of your Kountry Klub friends and meet new friends at the rally.
Exciting News for Region One – with the approval of the International Directors, we have appointed Duane Paige & Laurie Hunt to act a State Directors for Utah as well as Arizona. They are working with Utah NKK members Eric & Gayle Bruce to help charter a new chapter in Utah. Starting a new chapter in Utah was a goal for Mary & I when we accepted the positon of Region One Directors, and we are truly excited to see this vision coming to fruition with the bulk of the credit going to the Eric & Gayle Bruce and the Arizona Directors who are lending their expertise. Utah members, this is your chance to be charter members of your new Utah chapter.
Having been on the road since February, a respite here at home is most welcome until we leave for Rock Springs at the end of June. Hopefully, we will see many of you at the International Rally. Please sign up at registration to assist with at least one meal during the rally as Region One is overseeing food service at the rally. Remember, the caterer cooks – we just help serve and tidy up.
See you down the road,
