Nevada Mother Lode – Presidents
It has been a long, cold winter for us up here in Northern Nevada so we decided to take another rally trip to the warmer states of Arizona and New Mexico. The normal “snow birds” tend to leave their warm desert “nests” on or around April 1st and head back up North, so many RV parks have space.
We drove South and East to attend two rallies, the first in Casa Grande, Arizona and the other in Silver City, New Mexico. The trip down Nevada, through Las Vegas to Kingman and then to Casa Grande, was uneventful except for heavy winds.
We attended the Arizona Sun Catchers Chapter Rally at the luxury Palm Creek Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona, from April 1-5. A very large working dairy farm was visited with a tour by Tram and a facility tour guide. Very good presentations were also given by Redlands Truck & RV and SkyMed.
After the Casa Grande Rally we took a very windy 2-day drive to attend the New Mexico Chili Peppers Chapter Rally in Silver City at the rustic and scenic Rose Valley Ranch RV Park. The rally was held from April 7-10.
Silver City is an old mining town with a few very large mines still in operation in out-lying areas. The Silver City Historic District has many restored buildings with interesting shops and restaurants.
A Sheep Ranch was visited for a great walking tour and history lesson about the types of sheep that can and cannot survive in the regional terrain. The ranch is being transformed into a teaching facility in co-operation with a State University.
By the time everyone receives the June/July 2022 Newmar Kountry Klub Legacy, the International Rally will be over or winding down. After the Rally, many members may be taking advantage of being in Rock Springs by extending time there to explore or by heading to locations other than “home.”
Please note that the Nevada State Rally is scheduled for October 24-27 at the Lake Mead RV Village (same location as last year). See the listing for this event in the 2022 Klub Calendar.
When you travel be safe and be prepared for high winds and the ever present summer road repairs. Prepare your rig and toad accordingly for expected summer temperatures.
