Nevada Mother Lode – Presidents
It has remained very cold here in Northern Nevada with typical night temperatures in the mid to low teens and days in the 30’s and 40’s. We have still had snow and ice conditions. Yes, I am still carrying snow chains for the Motor Home!
Mickey & I (and Bodie) had been staying close to home, but Mickey’s broken bones in her right foot healed enough for her to travel in the Motorhome as long as she was careful when walking.
We drove down to Southern California to attend two rallies, the first in Chula Vista, California and the other in Temecula, California. The trip down Nevada and over to Barstow was uneventful with very light traffic and no winds. The drive from Barstow to San Bernardino was just the opposite with very heavy (3-day holiday weekend) traffic and high winds with even higher wind gusts. The average traffic speed was 5-35 mph.
We attended the NKK 2022 California State Rally in Chula Vista, California at the Sun Outdoors RV Resort San Diego Bay from February 21-25. Midway aircraft carrier tours and Living Coast tours were available. Strangely there was cool weather and even heavy sprinkles and rain showers. Presentations were given by Redlands Truck & RV, Sky Med, and Proteng fire suppression. Show coaches were provided by Holland RV.
After the Chula Vista rally we took a relatively short drive north to the California Golden Aires Chapter Rally in Temecula, California at the Pechanga RV Resort. The rally was scheduled from March 4-7 so we linked the two rallies by staying an extra week at Perchanga from February 25-March 4 and then joined the rally from March 4-7. We did get the reduced rally rate for the extra week (we always ask). Temecula Valley has seasonal activities such as golf, wineries and antique shops in old town Temecula. Also, Temecula is not very far from San Diego. Presentations were given by Redlands Truck & RV Maintenance and Repair Service, Sky Med and Pete’s Tires and a presentation explaining Retroband and Proteng products.

If you travel be safe and be prepared to detour due to high winds, flooding, pot holes, and ever-present road repairs. Prepare your rig and toad accordingly for high or low temperatures.
