California State Directors
Greetings fellow out-of-state Newmar owners and those which live in the Golden State. As always first and foremost, Teresa, AKA Beautiful blond one & I hope all is well with you, your family and friends. We wish you great speed with safety in mind, as you travel from the International Rally in Rock Springs, Wyoming to places where no man has gone before in your beautiful Newmar coach.
Well, I have been asked to get my Legacy article in early (June 4) due to the upcoming Newmar International Rally where everyone is busy making sure it will be another smashing success. The bad news, the rally is now over by the time of the published article. I do not have any idea how the rally progressed, what was accomplished or how my Region One food service went because I had a caravan to lead to Alaska with an unnamed company. What you missed from my non-attendance this year at the rally was my wonderful disposition and stunning smile as you try to please 900-1000 hungry people. But I’m sure Region One hit a home run and won the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. It is baseball season now so I can use big baseball terms.
Ok, I must take some time to talk Newmar Kountry Klub and what we are doing to increase membership in one or all three of our California chapters. Anyway, Teresa & I have been talking about this and low and behold so have our Regional Directors and three-chapter presidents/officers. Someone once said great minds think alike, but you must get them together to accomplish this simple task. So, when we finally met at the 49’er rally in Monterey, California this past April, we all sat down to figure this out. Facilitating the round table discussion was Teresa with representatives from all three California chapters, Region One Directors and our neighbors to east, the Arizona State Directors. No earth-shattering events or comments came from our discussion, but an easy and simple idea came from the Golden Aires presidents Jennifer & Joel Minor. The Minor’s had email addresses of all 342 Newmar Kountry Klub owners in California. A 10-question survey was designed about rallies and individual preferences and sent out via Survey Monkey in May. As of this writing, 66 have responded. So, stand-by to stand-by for the results of our survey in my next exciting Legacy article.
Anyway, I must go for now. I have some last-minute Alaska preparations to attend to. So, keep the rubber rolling on the highways, hands on the steering wheel, music on low and your mind on the task at hand at getting you from point “A” to point “B” safely. Please, say hello to the neighbors on each side of you, a prayer for those who are not with us and take time to cherish each moment you spend with your family and loved ones.
