California State Directors
Greetings from the Golden State, aka California, the highest fuel cost in the nation state.
Anyway, as usual, Teresa (beautiful blond one) and I hope all is well with you, your family and friends. We hope your upcoming summer is filled with excitement and many miles of beautiful scenery from our great nation as you start your travels.
First of all, my disclaimer is this. I cannot find my crystal ball to tell you what is currently happening in the world for this edition of the Legacy magazine because as I write my article, it is the 26th of February 2022. What I do know is the war between Russia and Ukraine is in its sixth day, Russia president Putin has put its nuclear forces on alert, sanctions are being placed on Russia, fuel prices are expected to rise nationwide and oh yeah, we purchased a home to help care for an immediate family member who is sick. What I also know is, the new home “had” a money tree in the back yard but now it’s bare!
Ok, we just finished the California State Rally in Chula Vista, South of San Diego. The RV resort was newer and had full hook-ups with cement paved sites. The weather was sunny, warm to cold and rainy, but this did not deter us from a good time. Some of the guests were first timers with a mixture of veteran Newmar owners in attendance. We visited the USS Midway and the Living Coast, plus some guests ventured out into the local area to see the San Diego visitor sites. Next year, we plan on heading to the northern part of California in 2023 for our state rally. So, watch for the dates.
As this is written upcoming March 4-7, Teresa and I are attending and supporting the Golden Aires Rally in Temecula at the Pechanga Resort and Casino. Our hosts for this rally are Ken and Leah Wilson, president of the Golden Aires. Their past rallies have always been fun and filled with excitement. But the sad part of the end of their rally is, Ken & Leah are stepping down from their many years of being the Golden Aires presidents and moving on to greener pastures. So, if you’re in California area and want to step up to support the Newmar Kountry Klub, we have positions available in the Golden Aires. Oh yeah, the same goes for the two other chapters in California, the 49ers and Golden Bears. You, yes you, can make an impact and become a chapter officer. There are benefits associated to these volunteer chapter officer positions.
Now let’s talk more Kountry Klub news. The 36th Newmar International Rally is coming up in Rock Springs, Wyoming, starting July 16 and ending July 23. Early parking starts July 15th, so sign up and attend. You will not be disappointed in the activities and you will have a great time socializing with old and new found friends. (Let me tell you a big secret to the success of these rallies, it’s the “Volunteers.”) Anyway, as of this time, we will not be attending. We have a trip to Alaska planned; that is if the fuel prices have not skyrocketed to the moon!
So, for now I must go. Stay safe, be healthy and keep moving those beautiful Newmar coaches along the highway. Wave at other Newmar coaches as they go by, and when you stop for the night after your day of travel, say hello to your fellow Newmar owners.
