Greetings from the Great State of California! Anyways, Teresa & I hope all is well with you, your family and friends. We hope you have had a wonderful and healthy winter and spring and looking forward to getting out from your easy chair and hitting the road. Yes, the road has called and it is time to boogey down the highway. I do understand some may have just gotten your beautiful Newmar coach out of winter storage, but for those of us who have no idea how to winterize or de-winterize our coach, we will just add another coat of wax.
Now as with my previous articles, I know you are waiting in anticipation to find out what the California State Directors are currently doing? Well, I’m sitting on a pool lounge chair by one of the three pools here at the RV resort, watching the sexy retired guests in their swimsuits enjoying the heated swirling water of the resort spas. (Now that you have a visual.) In the volleyball heated pool is two of my granddaughters enjoying themselves and annoying the grumpy old folks that are trying to exercise. The sun is shining brightly through the many palm trees surrounding the three pools and spas. Behind the palm trees are a few puffy white clouds floating across the sky in the light breeze. The sun is warm as it breaks from the clouds and the local weather lady has forecasted a high of 72 degrees. It is the end of April and I know I will still need my winter jacket as the sun says goodbye for the day. Oops, forgot about Teresa because some of the pool guests are as you would say, interesting in their swim suits. Well, the beautiful blond one is sitting next to me in a lounge chair looking like an Oscar award winning movie star, listening to the resort recorded song, Let’s get Physical by Olivia Newton John. Life is great for now!
Rallies, yes, we had our California State rally, April 10-14, at the Bakersfield RV Resort. We started with 20 coaches, increased to 25 then lost 2 coaches due to concerns. The weather was the usual warm and sunny and the Newmar owners attending were excited to be there. We abided by state COVID-19 requirements and had a blast socializing and eating healthy delicious food. Meals were prepared by Teresa & I and served by the rally volunteers, plus one street taco dinner supplied by Tom Lindstrom RV. We had presentations of products and services by Redlands RV, Proteng Fire Suppression Systems, a door prize provided by RV Flush, played card bingo with the world-famous card bingo caller, me, attended the play “Duchess of Delano” at the Gaslight Melodrama theater, watched as several owners tried to get their scavenger hunt articles past Tom Chelbana and the hard to convince judges (the audience), laughed a lot, sat by the fires at night, talked about life and our coaches. Yes, we were like peas and carrots so don’t miss next year’s California State rally in the San Diego County area.
So, as I sit here by the resort pool working on my Southern California skin causing cancer sun tan, we will leave here in the next few days to start our travels around the nation. Our first stop will be in the St. Louis area to participate and start a RV tour of the Lewis and Clark trail. From there we will drive across this great nation to the 35th Newmar International Rally and support our region and the Newmar Kountry Klub to make this year’s International Rally a big success.
Upon saying goodbye to the rally and good friends, we will travel to the southeast portion of our country, westwards to Arkansas for an Alaska reunion, to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta and finish the year with the Rose Parade. Wow, the retirement life of a full-timer with a beautiful Newmar Coach. Oh yeah, don’t forget when you see the mother-in-law with us on our travels, tell Jackie hello and ask her if she has been training on her tuck and rolling? Did I say we were like peas and carrots?
Anyway, stay safe, keep the rubber rolling along the highway, volunteer and support your state and local chapters of the Newmar Kountry Klub. Until the next exciting and possibly challenging California State Directors news article, Hasta la vista baby (now name the past California/actor governor movie this was said in).
