California 49ers – Presidents

I am sitting here in Monterey, California to write this article after hosting our first rally. These rallies do not happen by themselves, and I want to thank our Vice Presidents Danny & Merri Estrada for their tireless work over the last 8-10 months helping us plan and execute this rally. We also want to thank the many volunteers who stepped up to help with everything including setup, food service, cleanup and anything else that was necessary to keep this rally running smoothly. Unfortunately, there is no rest for the weary and we will start to plan next year’s rally very soon.

We all enjoyed the rally as the weather was outstanding along the coast. We started out with a cruise on the calm waters of the Elkhorn Slough where we saw many birds, harbor seals and otters along the way. We also learned a few things with presentations from Proteng, Rettroband and SkyMed along with a very informative talk about John Steinbeck from the Steinbeck National Center located just a few miles away in Salinas, California. The rally was capped off by a great crab dinner and the always entertaining scavenger hunt hosted by Tom Chelbana.

We now have a short few months to relax and get things done on the coach before we begin our journey to the International Rally in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We will be traveling up north to attend the 47th Annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show before we proceed into the International Rally. We hope to meet up with old friends and meet new ones.

After the rally we will be participating in the Taste of the West Caravan and should get home around the middle of August.
