Hello from Campbell, California. We are Tom & Nancy Wills and have accepted the role of President of the California 49ers Chapter.
Our adventures with Newmar began with Nancy’s parents and their 2000 Mountain Aire. After several years enjoying the motorhome life Nancy’s dad could no longer drive their motorhome. A few years later they were kind enough to let us use it so we could enjoy our own motorhome adventures. It didn’t take long and we were hooked. We joined the NKK, the three California Chapters and the Nevada chapter. We enjoyed the traveling, meeting new people and the opportunity to travel when I retired. Fast forward, we now have a 2020 Dutch Star 4081 and Tom has been forced into an early retirement. A positive outcome of COVID!
We have always been involved and volunteered in many activities and events and knew some day we would take on a bigger role with the NKK and our state chapters. That day came when Robert & Teresa, our State Directors, approached us about taking on a position with the 49ers chapter. The first task was to see who else we could get to join us. After a few phone calls and some nudging, Danny & Merri Estrada, who live in Gilroy, agreed to fill the Vice Presidents position. We look forward to working with Danny & Merri and building on our friendship. We hope to have the positions of treasurer and secretary filled by the time you read this article.
We would like to thank our past 49er Officers, Presidents Jay & Cheryl Freeman, Vice Presidents Hal & Linda Stone, Treasurer Howard & Bonnie Spinrad, and Secretary Mia & Fernando Escarcerga. We wish them well on their future endeavors.
We are currently not planning to have our late April or May rally but if things improve later this year, we will try to plan some sort of impromptu gathering. It would be an opportunity to gather, catch up and share what life has brought all of us over the last year and to look forward to getting back out on the road.
We can’t wait to see all of you at a future rally. Catching up with old friends and introducing ourselves to new members. Thank you to Danny & Merri for joining us on this adventure.
Hopefully the roll out of a vaccine will give us the ability to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Stay safe and healthy until we meet again.
