Boy, do we have a new appreciation for all of you that have planned and hosted a rally. The first step to hosting a rally is to find a location for all of us to gather and to keep within our budget. Our partners in crime (our Vice Presidents) Danny & Merri, joined us in our pursuit to find a location to have our rally.
We encountered parks that told us one price when we toured the facility only later to inform us that next year’s prices will be going up almost 20%. Some parks could accommodate our coaches but their club house was too small. One park was a perfect location, nice clean park but no club house. We even explored other spaces we could rent for our meals and presentations but to no avail. It was time to succumb to looking at other cities for our rally. We found a clean, well maintained park with the perfect club house. The location was ok, but we could make it work.
The four of us weren’t ready to give up on our original idea. We went back to the drawing board and looked one more time to see if there were any more options we could explore. Eureka, we found it! Perseverance paid off. The location has enough sites to accommodate the number of coaches/people we wanted, an amazing club house and kitchen, within our budget, available on the dates we needed and close to everything the area has to offer. Yahoo!!
We are extremely excited to announce (drum roll) that our first rally will be held in one of the most scenic and beautiful places on the planet – Monterey, California. Mark your calendars for April 24-28. Better yet go online to the Klub’s website and sign up for this rally!
We will be spending 4 nights/5 days at the Monterey County Fairgrounds RV Park in Monterey, California. We will be providing 4 breakfasts, 3 dinners and an electric catamaran tour of Elkhorn Slough and a few additional surprises. There will be one free day to go and explore the beauty of the Monterey Peninsula including Santa Cruz, Pacific Grove, Carmel and the City of Monterey.
Don’t worry about getting woozy on the catamaran tour as the Slough is flat calm and the boat is an extremely stable platform. You will glide quietly through Elkhorn Slough which is home to hundreds of species of birds and marine life. The main channel winds seven miles inland, feeding 2,500 acres of rich marsh and tidal flats. Pelicans, herons and egrets, as well as countless fish, sharks, crabs, sea lions and otters call the slough home.
