Hello from Vancouver, BC where we, like you, are adapting to the world around us. As I mentioned in the last Konnection magazine, 2021 will mark the 25th anniversary of the BC Dogwood Klub. So our rally this year will be a special one, and one with some unique opportunities.
The first challenge is to try to guess how the COVID-19 vaccination programs will progress and when the general population will again feel comfortable travelling. The BC Dogwood Klub had some meetings (by phone and on-line) where we decided it would be best to have our rally in late summer or early fall. That would give us the best chances of being able to welcome friends from both sides of the Canada/US border.
While talking to our Region Nine Director (David Killey) it was decided to hold a combined rally in British Columbia on September 9 to 12. The rally will be advertised as a “Region Nine, BC Provincial & BC Dogwood 25th Anniversary Rally”.
One of the senior members of the BC Dogwood Klub is working on a history booklet for the rally. To help out I tried to put together a list of past presidents, vice presidents and secretaries/treasurers but had to ask for help from NKK head office. I hope to receive a detailed list soon (Thanks Linda) that I can pass along to the Klub Historian.
Although we are all looking forward to 2021 with hope and enthusiasm for a ‘return to normal’ there are many families and friends who will always remember 2020 for sadder times. One example: just after Christmas I received news that Theresa Fraser passed away. Robert & Theresa Fraser were past presidents of the BC Dogwood Klub and she will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Take care,
John & Kathy Schretlen (21536)
