British Columbia Dogwood Klub – Presidents
Hello from Vancouver, British Columbia. Good news and bad news. Bad news first: A couple of months ago we were approaching the registration deadline for our Dogwood Klub Rally and had to make the go/no go decision. After looking at the very low registration numbers and a true lack of enthusiasm (caused in large part by the very high price of diesel) we decided to cancel our event.
As President I had the final decision. I will admit the ‘cancel it now so the few who were planning on coming can make other plans’ suggestion was balanced by the ‘wait a bit longer as often people make last minute decisions’ argument. But it did not look promising that our numbers would improve, and other summer events were starting to shrink or be cancelled. So, the decision was made and agreed to.
Good news: The International Rally was still on and I know a few British Columbians were driving down to Rock Springs, Wyoming to join in. As I write this (June) the price of diesel is quite expensive but it’s still cheaper in Rock Springs than Vancouver. So I hope that many of you were also at the International Rally and stopped in to buy some clothing and gifts at the store.
The Annual General Meeting of the British Columbia Dogwood Klub will be held in September and likely done by Zoom as we did last year. Details to follow.
Stay healthy and drive safe. Take care,
