Hope everyone had a Happy Easter, good thing we couldn’t go anywhere as we were getting our 6.5 inches of snow that morning. We watched a church service on TV and stayed safe.
Del and I made it home from Florida on April 7th, 2020. When we left Clearbrook RV Park in Clermont, Florida on March 31, 2020 there were 50 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Lake County where we were. Del had registered all the RV parks we planned to stay at on our route home with no problem. They were all still open. The traffic was lighter, as most of you found when traveling back from the south. Even going through Atlanta, Georgia we breezed right on through on the West Bypass. Only problem we had was Saturday morning, at Basswood RV Country Club Resort in Platte City, MO, the coach would not start, it would turn over but not kick in. Del called Sam’s Road Side Assistance, they could not find anyone to help us out as it was the weekend and of course the coronavirus. On Monday they still were having trouble, Del gave up on them and called Cummins in Kansas City, MO. Del told him to bring filters and gave him the part numbers as that is what he felt the problem was. They sent out a young man, he arrived at 12:52 pm, changed the filters and had it running by 1:25 pm. He showed Del that there was Algae in the filter. Which he said happens some in the southern states. Suggested when we park for any length of time to have a full tank of fuel. Our next stop was to be at home by Renner, SD. The decision was made, that we would stay another night as it would be dark when Del would have to back the coach across SD-115 to get to our home as we live right along the highway. Not a good idea!!! The speed limit by our home is 65 mph if they abide by it, most do not.
When we got home, the report was 50 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the whole state of South Dakota, most of them in Minnehaha County which is the county we live in. But, as most of you know if you have been watching the news that the Smithfield Processing Plant had most of that. Thank heavens they are closing that facility until further notice. As of April 15th, 2020, there are now 999 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in South Dakota. Fortunately, there have only been 6 deaths so far due to the coronavirus in South Dakota at this time.
We have been self-quarantined since we got home. Our Grandson Andy, works at the Walmart where we go, so he does our grocery shopping for us.
I have been getting a lot of cleaning and scrapbooking done with all this time on my hands. I have been scrapbooking of all our travels in the coach since we started in 2002. I am up to the end of 2008. Yes, I have a long way to go yet. Del has been cleaning the garage and he even mowed some of the lawn before the snow on Easter Sunday.
Sad to say we had to cancel our 2020 North Dakota/South Dakota State Rally and Rushmore Roamers Chapter Rally that was to be held June 22-25, 2020 at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Aberdeen, South Dakota. We will try again next year.
Del has not been able to schedule his surgery for his severe spinal stenosis, because they consider it a non-essential surgery. Plus, don’t even want to think about going to a doctor’s office or hospital at this time, because of the coronavirus.
Our plans to meet with Paul and Judy Swing your new Region Four Directors at Pine Grove RV Park and Campground in Greenwood, NE to transfer the Region Four property will be rescheduled.
Hope you all have been safe and no one has gotten this dreaded decease that has infested our world. By the time you read this, we are hoping everyone can be out and enjoying a wonderful 4th of July.
