Michael and Marcy started RVing in 2008. In July 2020 Marcy passed away, and Michael continues RVing in her memory. I spent 10 years in the US Navy, four years on board two WWII era submarines – USS Hardhead (SS365) and the USS Cobbler (SS344) – as an Electrician Mate Second Class and the last six years in the computer field as a Communications Technician Technical First Class before transitioning to civilian life. Based on our RVing experience I wrote and published a how-to book (RV Primer – How to Start and Enjoy RVing) to help others with their RVing experience.
Marcy’s parents got us interested in RVing. They had nothing but good things to say about the lifestyle, so we decided that retirement was approaching and RVing would be a good way to see the country and meet new people. In 2008, we bought a used 2003 Class A and started RVing and have not looked back. Our third RV was a new 2015 Canyon Star which we loved and was our pathway to the Newmar family and the Newmar Kountry Klub (NKK). In 2017, we traded for a used 2014 Dutch Star. During that time, we joined the NKK and joined the Virginia Wheels NKK Klub. We love the Klub and and enjoyed the rallies so much we decided that we wanted to do more. We were fortunate that we had the opportunity to apply for the Virginia State Director and were ecstatic that we were selected for that position.
