We arrived in Florida mid-Oct and a lot happened on the way. After the International Rally we headed to Misty Mountain RV Resort in Corzet, VA to evaluate it as the 2020 Virginia State Rally location. Although we had been there before we wanted to check out availability and local activities. We finally settled on Sept 10-13, 2020, as our rally date. Mark your calendar, we hope to see you there. More info will be provided in the Konnections.
After that we headed to Gaffney for our yearly chassis service. This was the 6th service and they recommended belt changes (had some damage on one so figured we should replace them all). While I was there, I had a full service done on the generator (I had 730 hours so it was due). When the coach came back the service guy said the generator would not crank. I flipped the load breaker and it cranked right up. I left it running and went to the back the coach. When I returned it had shut down. Now here is the strange part. No codes were sent to the start switch on the generator or in the cab. It appeared there was no power going to the generator. What a head scratcher. We had a schedule so we decided to address the generator problem back in Virginia. Once there we made an appointment at the local Cummins shop and took the coach there so they could check out the generator. They de-installed the front clip, pulled the generator out and replaced the generator inverter. They re-installed but no change in the generator. They pulled it yet again and noticed the nuts and bolts on the generator housing had worked loose to the point of falling off, how I got 730 hours of service out it the techs found amazing. They tighten the bolts, gave me a 18% discount on labor and I was good to go or so I thought. After some Doctors visits and visiting the kids we headed to Florida. We started the generator and hit the road. As it turns out the generator is not putting out any power but it was running. We will be going to a local Florida Cummins shop soon to get that addressed.
We stayed at Thousand Trails Clermont and were pleasantly surprised they are adding 176 new full hookup sites which will be available in the Fall of 2020. This will be a welcomed addition and provide better availability for RV sites. While there I parked in area A since most of them are pull throughs which accommodate my 16 ft trailer. We set up, got satellite signal and we were good to go again.
Marcy typically does laundry about every other day to keep up with the chore. She loaded the washing machine, turned it on but during the initial spin cycle we got a F7 error which indicates it could not get up to speed to spin the clothes. I did the normal troubleshooting – tried it again (classic doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is crazy – call me crazy) and yeah, it did not work. I then unloaded it and did an empty wash load, same error. Ok I finally figured out the technical problem – “it’s broke”. I called around and you would be surprised at how hard it is to find a mobile RV service that is willing to work on washer, dryer, and refrigerators. After a ton of phone calls, I finally found one willing to come out. The night before they came out, I was taking a shower and it seemed to me that the back was not quite level. I took out my trusty torpedo level and sure enough it was out of level but just a “tad”. I re-leveled and that was the problem. All is well and the washing machine works like a champ. Of course, I only figured this out after we made two trips to the Laundromat which I am still hearing about but all is well.
So far, we attended 2 Sea Turtle Rallies, one at the Sanland RV Resort in Lakeland and one at the Pecan RV Resort in Jacksonville. Both rallies were great and we enjoyed seeing old friends. Marcy has a 24 hour bug at the Jacksonville rally but she got better near the end and was able to participate. At these rally’s we also played some new games that were pretty cool. At the Pecan RV Resort rally we had a presentation done by Proteng Fire Suppression folks (Raphael) and I would highly recommend attending one of those presentation if you get a chance. Buy it, don’t buy it – up to you. Just as long as you are making an informed decision.
We are looking forward to the Tampa Super Show in January, 2020. May 14-17, 2020, Virginia Wheels are having a rally at the eastern shore. Check out the Konnection Events for more information.
Marcy is in the travel planning stages for the 2020 International Rally being held in Sweet Water, WY (in the southwest corner of the state) Aug 24-28, 2020. Hope to see you there as well.
Safe travels and Happy RVing,
