The Carolinas State Directors
Hey, y’all! I hope this finds each of you enjoying your summer and hopefully spending it some place where the temperatures are below 90 degrees! Personally, we find that is one of the best features of owning these beastly machines … when the weather isn’t to your liking, crank that bad boy up and go to wherever suits your preferred personal temperature range.
As we prepare this article, we have just left the Cajun RV Rally in New Iberia, Louisiana. There were eighty coaches in attendance, and Newmar was well represented with more Newmar coaches there than any other manufacturer. Even though it’s not a Newmar rally (although it started years ago as an annual NKK chapter rally), we highly recommend putting it on your travel schedule to attend. Rally hosts, Don Grutzmacher and his daughter, Kari Wood, put on a grand event to include everything Cajun/Zydeco, from the history of the accordion, to the farming and harvesting of crawfish (aka: mudbugs), to the Cajun cuisine meals (alternate entrees are available for those who don’t want Cajun), to live Cajun/Zydeco music every night. We’re happy we were finally able to attend and plan to be back next year. Feel free to reach out to us if you would like additional information on next year’s Cajun RV Rally (to be held April 4-8 and April 11-15).
Upon leaving Louisiana this morning, we arrived in Katy, Texas this evening to visit our daughter and grandsons for a week. We tend to forget how HORRIBLE the traffic is in this area, but it’s worth the hassle to have time with those we love! When we depart here, we’ll make our way back home for a couple of weeks before heading to Fayetteville, North Carolina for the Carolinas State Rally. After that, we’ll have about six weeks of “down time” before the joint Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina Mayberry Rally. This will be the second time this combined rally has been held and stepping back into Mayberry and the good ole’ Andy Griffin era is always fun! Of course, the next big event will be the 37th NKK International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri, followed by the Region Five Rally in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina in October.
That’s about it for these “Wandering Webbers” for now. As a reminder, if you are not a member of your local chapter … especially you North Carolina and South Carolina folks … we encourage you to reach out to attend a rally and join the fun! You don’t know what you don’t know until you know what you’re missing! 😊
