Welcome 2021! Boy are we glad to see you. Those of us that were able to travel have gobbled our way through Thanksgiving and enjoyed our way through Christmas. Those not able to travel may still be eating leftovers! The New Year celebration is now history and it’s time to now get ready to take part in my favorite season . . . CAMPING SEASON! It’s time to get those coaches out of storage, get them dusted off, washed, waxed and ready to go!
Before totally forgetting about last year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people for everything they did for all of us during this past hectic year. First of all, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, our International Directors, and the entire staff at the NKK office. You put in a lot of long hours creating all our rallies, caravans, etc. only to have to cancel or postponed into 2021. I hope you know how much we all appreciated your effort. Our Tennessee Volunteer Kruiser Vice-Presidents, Joe & Bonnie Portera, are now retired from their position and we have begun the process of attempting to fill their shoes. (Anyone interested?) And most importantly, our Tennessee – Volunteer Kruiser chapter members for hanging in there for another year. We closed out our 2020 year with a membership of approximately 45 coaches. We had a few that have sold their coaches and decided to really retire. Coincidentally, we gained nearly as many new members as we lost so I’m happy. You are the greatest! I would also like to say a huge thank you to our Region Five Directors (Gary & Wanda Smith) for all their efforts with the Tampa Super Show. And last but not least, to Phil & Charlene Budd (our Tennessee State Directors) for their hard work in creating a state rally, only to have to reschedule. We look forward to this fun event.
But now, more about camping. I have started loading up my calendar with fun events, travel destinations and rallies to attend in 2021. One upcoming event is the Tennessee State Rally to be held this year at the Spring Lake campground in Crossville, Tennessee in Late May/early June. Following along next will be the joint Tennessee – North Carolina Chapter Rally to be held on June 7 in Franklin, North Carolina. Be sure to check the NKK Klub Calendar to see if there is anything you might want to put on your calendars. As always, we are looking for new locations to hold rallies. If during your travels last year, you found any “hidden treasures”, please be sure to pass them along to your chapter officers. We are willing to work with you to host/co-host a new and different rally for all to enjoy. And don’t forget, “Got a hobby?”, turn it into a rally!
In closing, I would like to put out there one small reminder. . . Keep in mind that they’re many RVers in your state and surrounding areas that might own a Newmar but do not belong to a local chapter. They may have never heard of us (unbelievable I know) but our recruiting efforts occasionally miss a few. If you see one of them in a campground or RV park where you might be staying, make a special effort to introduce yourselves and talk about our Volunteer Kruiser chapter. Keep a few older Konnection magazines around so that you can give them one and if you would like a few blank membership applications, let me know. Thank you for being NKK and local chapter members and most importantly, for owning a Newmar!
