Phil & Charlene Budd (9488L)
Tennessee State Directors
“I know this is a short April/May note. The June/July Legacy article with a 2022 Tennessee State Rally recap and the location announcement of our June-5-10, 2023 Tennessee State Rally with the many wonderful things Middle Tennessee has to offer will give you more to read…”
The above paragraph is copied from our April/May Legacy article. So, now is time for the June/July Legacy article, and the wrap up of an unbelievable fun, five days of fellowship, meeting new people, and enjoying the entertainment of Pigeon Forge and the Gatlinburg area.
Parked on the picturesque French Broad River, at the Two Rivers Landing RV Resort with their staff, led by Don Little, has made our responsibility as hosts a breeze. This 56 site RV Resort is truly a “Gem” here in the Smoky Mountains. This was the very last rally of any kind to be held at this RV Resort.
The welcome dinner, surprise birthday cake for our Region Five Director Wanda Smith who turned ??, our own Tennessee State Cookie Lady “Betty Bolte,” and card bingo got us off to a rousing start!
Wednesday we got off to a “slip macking” Cracker Barrel breakfast, followed by NIRVC’s Oscar Ramos teaching us about RV Fire Prevention. We thank NIRVC’s Brett Davis CEO, Chuck Lasley, Director of Events and Fire Safety Products for their tremendous rally support and sending Oscar to share his knowledge. We were also “Blessed” to have Evan & Debbie Hughes, NKK Member’s-at-Large, attend our rally. They are “Our” voting voice on the Board of Directors of the NKK.
Wednesday evening, we finished off with Dolly Parton’s Pirate’s Voyage Dinner Theater.
Thursday, we slowed the pace and enjoyed a SkyMed catered lunch and listened to SkyMed Vice President Rob Krajicek and wife Sherry present, in my opinion, the best travel insurance program an RVer could own. This was followed by Farm & City Insurance Services sponsored ice cream social and door prize giveaways. The Comedy Barn Theater closed the evening! Clean family enjoyable fun!!
Friday was a free day to explore Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains, ending with the Dolly Parton’s Hatfield and McCoy Family Feud Dinner Theater with an “All you can Eat” dinner, which certainly added to our 10-pound rally!
Saturday was begun with Cracker Barrel’s famous “Mamma’s Pancake Breakfast.” We finished the evening at the Dolly Parton Stampede.
Charlene & I could not have done all of this without everyone jumping in and making the week a success. A special thanks to our Kitchen Crew!!! Let’s hear a drum roll for Jerry & Sue Argabrite, Betty Bolte (our Tennessee Cookie Lady), Denny & Sheryn Ward, and Bill & Angela Mannion. Without these kind folks, no one would have eaten!!
2023 Tennessee State Rally will be June 5-10! Put it on your calendar!
Stoney Creek Travel Park
2499 Lynnville Highway Cornersville, Tennessee 37047
We have a lot to offer in Middle Tennessee from our camping base at Stoney Creek Travel Park. Places like Soda Pop Junction, Colonel Littleton’s All American Leather Manufacturing, Marci-Jo’s Bakery, (famous from Country Singers Joey & Rory Feek), Miss Bobo’s, next door to Jack Daniel’s Distillery, Redstone Arsnel and the Space and Missile Museum, Corner Pit BBQ, and 31 BBQ and Pizza.
Folks, we are going “COUNTRY IN 2023.” Bring your boots and cowboy hat!! Woohoo!!
And this may be a strange wrap up of our Tennessee State Rally for 2022, but I want to thank many prayer warriors that supported Charlene & I through health issues. So many people were involved, and I won’t mention names because I will forget some, but thank you all for your wonderful prayers and support in making another Newmar Kountry Klub Rally a success.
See y’all in Rock Springs another “Boots and Cowboy Hat” adventure!
