Florida Sea Turtles – President
Winter is almost over. For the Sea Turtles, that means the Tampa RV Super Show is over and our northern friends are looking forward to heading north, well maybe not right away.
The February Rally at Southern Palms in Eustis, Florida was attended by over 22 coaches. The major event was the 120th Anniversary of the George Fest. This is a celebration of the birthday of our 1st President, George Washington. The 3-day event consists of a Carnival, Parade, Fireworks and much more.
As this is written our March Rally will be at the new Oak Alley RV Resort in Webster, Florida. This is the 20th Anniversary of the Florida Sea Turtles Chapter. We originally sized the rally at 30 coaches, but the campground provided more sites which allowed the additional five waitlist coaches to attend. This 4-day rally consists of two great home cooked breakfasts, a potluck dinner (meat provided), a grill your own meat with Huge Salad Bar, and finally a Taco Bar. FCIS is also sponsoring an Ice Cream Social.
The March Rally activities consisted of a Boat Tour on Lake Dora and free time at the Webster Westside Flea Market, Florida’s largest flea market. We also had a presentation and discussion about RV Trip Wizard and How to Host a Rally. Jim Bounds from Fire Fight Products provided an interesting presentation and demonstration on their Fire Fighting products.
We want to thank all our sponsors for our rallies. Independence RV in Winter Garden and North Trail RV in Fort Myers have been big supporters of the Florida Sea Turtles and all Newmar Owners.
We look forward to the Newmar International Rally in Rock Springs, Wyoming on July 16-23. A Bale (group) of Sea Turtles will caravan in together. More Turtles will gather, just not with our Caravan since many come in early to work. We look forward to another great time of fun, food, and fellowship at the Newmar International Rally.
We wish everyone a great spring and safe travels throughout the year. Be sure to check the NKK website for future rallies. Eileen and I attended six Newmar rallies last year outside of Florida. This year we are planning to attend a South Dakota Rushmore Roamers Rally on the way to Wyoming and hope to find more rallies while we wander around the Southwest.
