WOW! Where did the summer go? It’s hard to believe it’s autumn again, but the weather is turning cooler and the leaves are telling us that fall is in air. We hope you had a great summer, we know we did. We were able to travel again and see many of our Newmar family. Attending the 35th International Rally in Lewisburg, West Virginia was wonderful, and a huge success with so many attending. We hope you were able to attend as well and that you had a good time. Make sure to mark your calendar for the 36th Annual International Rally, July 16-23 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
If you were not able to attend did you get out and about? Were you able to get those tires rolling down the road headed to an adventure big or small? If not don’t fret, there are still adventures to be had and rallies on the books. Just check out your current copy of the Legacy magazine (formerly the Konnection) and find the list of activities or better yet pull up the Kountry Klub online and check out all the events listed on the calendar. We are already booking our adventures into January of 2022. Some are listed below.
We often talk about hosting rallies and getting involved, and we want to give a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL who volunteered at the International Rally this past July, without caring people like you, this Klub would not exist! We hope that it was a rewarding experience for you as well. Each Chapter, State and Region bring different ideas and thoughts of hosting a rally and creating an adventure for our members and we encourage you to step outside your local area and visit with other Chapter, State and Regions throughout the United States and Canada. It is our hope that our friends to the north will be able to travel soon again and that we can travel north to meet them.
While in West Virginia this past July we had the pleasure of attending the West Virginia State Rally, hosted by State Directors Bill & Beth White. We mention this because they found ways to incorporate the local area into our rally. The Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Historic Camp located near Weston, the first State-wide 4-H camp in the United States became our dining hall for two meals. Not only does the site have a dining hall there are dorms and a working mill. Bill & Beth were able to work out with them serving us a breakfast and a dinner at their location. It seems the rally grew big enough that there were no restaurants in the area big enough for all of us. This is the thinking outside the box we love to see. The games we played at the rally were fun and everyone walked away with something. Remember the plastic wrapped gift ball as a kid? Beth did just that, took a bunch of things, wrapped then into a ball, she kept adding and wrapping until it was a big ball. Two people approached the table, one on the hunt for prizes and the other with a pair of dice. On the mark of go, the hunter began unwrapping the plastic while the other rolled the dice. As soon as doubles were thrown the other had to stop.
They challenged people in stacking cups….
There are so many ways to make a rally fun, we ask you to share your ideas and think outside the box.
Each year bring new challenges and changes, and this year is no different. Matt Miller has decided to retire and we would like to congratulate Matt on his retirement, and wish him and Pam a wonderful new chapter in their lives. Matt has led Newmar into a new era and future and we believe it has been left in good hands. Brian Hazelton, has been selected as the new president of Newmar Corporation and although we have not met him personally yet, we have heard good things about him and look forward to working with him on the Kountry Klub Board of Directors.
As always we ask for your input on how we can improve our Klub. The Klub belongs to all of us and not just those in leadership positions, so if you have an idea, thought or suggestion on how we can do things better PLEASE let us know.
