Presidents – Fulltimers Chapter
“Sun is shining. Weather is sweet. Make you wanna move your dancing feet.” ~ Bob Marley
Welcome summer! This is our time to move. We have big travel plans this year and are trying to ignore the price of diesel as we make our way across the country somewhat diagonally from Florida to Cincinnati to Utah, Oregon, California and back. Taking time to visit the kids and grandkids and friends along the way.
We receive requests to join our chapter each and every week. Of course, we can’t tell where anyone actually ‘lives’ since so many of us use mailing services. It’s no surprise that the top three mailing addresses are in Florida, South Dakota and Texas. We have 59 members with an address in Florida, 49 with an address in South Dakota, and 41 listed as Texas. And, we truly are an international chapter with 4 addresses in Canada.
The maintenance of chapter membership is adeptly handled by our Secretary Barbara & Tom Palmer, and we all appreciate the hard work and attention to detail involved in keeping it all up to date.
While we are handing out thank-yous – a special thank you is extended to Debbie & David Seale, our Treasurer, who keep the all-important money side of the organization meticulously maintained – keeping track of general and rally expenses and producing the necessary reports in an efficient manner.
If you have ever had the chance to read an issue of our chapter newsletter, you know why we highly value our Traveling Times editor Barbara Nuehring who amazes us quarterly with interesting and timely articles. The newsletter is consistently over 20 pages often closer to 30 filled with travel tips, chapter news, interesting articles about places to visit and other tidbits. She maintains an archive of past issues for the last 12 years available to our members through our Facebook group and even puts out a membership roster twice a year.
And certainly, we want to thank Lynn & Hal Fryer for their friendship, support and hard work as the Vice President of the chapter. They have been instrumental in rally planning and keeping the chapter running. Their insights and enthusiasm have served us and the chapter well.
It’s a big chapter and as such a big job, but we love it because we love our members. Through careful planning and the active membership, we will be recommending keeping our dues at just $6/year. It’s amazing what a dedicated group of volunteers can do!
We have been kept busy with not only the day-to-day operations of the chapter, but also planning fun activities for our members. It won’t be long now until our big event of any year the NKK Fulltimers Rally and Annual Business Meeting to be held in Heber City, Utah this year at the beautiful Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City, Utah July 10-15, the week before International. We are planning a dinner at the depot and Railroad excursion through the valley and a visit to an Artisan Cheese company for a tour and tastings among other activities.
The Annual Business Meeting will be held Monday, July 11, at 10:00 AM at the Wasatch Senior Center a mile and a half from the campground. All members in good standing with the NKK and the Fulltimers Chapter are invited to attend. Election of officers will take place as well as a by-laws update discussion.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s humanitarian cause will be the Wasatch Community Foundation. The Fulltimers Chapter takes pride in its long-standing history of leaving the areas we visit benefiting from our presence there. Last year in Wytheville, Virginia, we raised over $13,500 for the local charity.
We will have 42 coaches caravanning to the International Rally in Rock Springs. Once again this year, at International, the Fulltimers Chapter will be hosting the ever popular lemonade and popcorn station. We are planning to present several informational seminars to share our collective knowledge. Impromptu get-togethers and a chapter social will also take place.
Plans are firming up for the Second Annual Holly Jolly Rally in Punta Gorda, Florida December 4-8 at Creekside RV Resort. Registration is scheduled to begin through the NKK website on June 6 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. We will be taking 30 reservations and will maintain a waitlist for the event. The rally is planned to include dinners, lunches, breakfast every day including a hot breakfast at a restaurant, a tour of the Edison-Ford Museum in nearby Ft. Myers and a sunset harbor cruise to view Holiday lights on the Kingfisher boat and an evening of live entertainment. Check the NKK Klub Calendar for more details. Rally fee is expected to be $160 with campsite not included. We expect to sell out again this year.
This will, in all likelihood, be our last article for the Legacy as we do not intend to run for president of the Fulltimers Chapter for the 2022-2023 term. It has been a pleasure and an honor to have served our members in this capacity. We have met so many wonderful people and made great friends in our time as president, and we hope to see many of you again.
