The terrain features spires\, buttes\, and scarp walls rising approximately 500 feet above the river valley floor. The Green River stretches 730 miles from its headwaters in Utah’s Wind River Mountains to its confluence with the Grand River\, forming the Colorado River. In 1921\, legislative action renamed the Grand River to the Colorado River\, thereby shifting the official headwaters of the Colorado River from Utah’s Wind Mountains to Colorado’s Central Rockies. The region was originally inhabited by the Fremont culture\, followed by the Shoshone and Ute tribes\, and later fur traders in the 1800s. The area was named Flaming Gorge by John Wesley Powell in 1869 during his exploration\, inspired by the striking red sandstone cliffs. In 1969\, the construction of a dam on the Green River led to the creation of the 91-mile Flaming Gorge Reservoir\, which supplies hydroelectric power to surrounding communities. The dam fundamentally altered the local ecosystem\, transforming approximately 28 miles of the Green River into a renowned “Blue Ribbon Trout Fishery” due to the cold water released from the dam. We invite you to participate in an 8-hour guided motorcoach excursion to explore the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The tour package includes transportation by motorcoach\, an experienced interpretive guide\, snacks\, a boxed lunch\, as well as applicable taxes and gratuities. In order to participate\, you must arrive one day early and check-in at the International Rally on Friday\, June 19\, 2026. $72 PER PERSON\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRock Springs 4 x 4 Roll-Out Excursion: Date: Saturday\, June 20 – Depart 9:30 am and 12:30 pm – Is your tow vehicle a Jeep\, a Bronco\, or another 4-wheel drive off-road vehicle? Have you ever had it on an off-road trail? If so\, this is your opportunity to enjoy an off-road experience in your own vehicle and see some of the natural scenery of the Rock Springs area. A local group of experienced off-roaders will be your guides as you explore the outback of Wyoming. They say these few hours will be “relatively easy” off-roading (this from a group that does Hell’s Revenge in Moab for warm-up). Your fee includes guides and a charitable donation to the Cowboys Against Cancer. The cost of this event is per vehicle\, regardless of the number of occupants. Please bring water and any snacks you would like. You will be notified of your departure time for this adventure when you receive your registration packet at the International Rally. In order to participate\, you must arrive one day early and check in at the International Rally on Friday\, June 19\, 2026. Along the way\, you’ll pass the way of the early explorers\, passing Ruxton Creek\, Diamond Rock\, between the sheer rock walls of Englemann Canyon\, waterfalls\, and Deer Park. The railway continues up Son of a Gun Hill\, into the Icebox (a cool shaded canyon)\, and past the remains of the Halfway House Hotel. Don’t forget your camera to take that special snap of the local fauna or the magnificent vistas you’ll see along the way. When you get to the top\, take a few deep breaths as you view an endless horizon towards the Collegiate and Sangre de Christo ranges and the mining town of Cripple Creek. \nOnce we return to the base of Pikes Peak\, we will board our motorcoach for a sumptuous lunch\, and a docent guided tour of the Garden of the Gods. These magnificent rock formations are composed mostly of Lyons formations\, a type of stone formed from fine sand and sedimentary rock of ancient sand dunes. Though the rocks were originally deposited horizontally\, they were heaved upward into vertical fins by the huge shift in the continental tectonic plates which created the Rocky Mountains. The ice age of the Pleistocene epoch (2.6 million to 11\,700 years ago) caused the erosion and glaciation we see as red rocks today. \nPrice per person $198.00 includes motorcoach transportation\, admission fees\, lunch\, taxes & gratuities. \n\nCANCELLED – Tour #3: National Museum of World War II Aviation & US Olympic/Paralympic Museum\nDate: Saturday\, July 27 – Depart 9:00 am/Return Approx 5:00 pm – NOTE FOR SATURDAY TOUR: You must register for early arrival on July 26th to attend this tour. \nDate: Sunday\, July 28 – Depart at 9:00 am return approximately 5:00 pm – NOTE FOR SUNDAY TOUR: If this is your first time attending the International Rally\, there will be a meeting on Sunday\, July 28. The museum opened to the public in 2012\, in 2018 it received the distinction as “America’s National World War II Aviation Museum” when Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act. \nThe 21-acre campus displays a collection of aircraft\, some extremely rare\, others with documented combat histories. Many of these aircraft have been restored to flying condition and appear at airshows throughout the country. \nAfterwards we will board our motorcoach to take us to lunch\, then on to a fantastic museum dedicated to the men and women of the United States Olympic and Paralympic teams. This state of the art 60\,000 square foot museum took 3 years to build at a cost of about $91 million\, the design inspired partly by the famous Sydney Opera House. One of the numerous galleries displays the torches from games dating back to 1936. Want to know how you compare to an Olympic / Paralympic class athlete? Try your hand at one of the six interactive activities\, like a track for the 30-meter dash. \nThe museum’s high tech visitor credential system uses RFID chips to accommodate guest’s pre-registered special needs such as vision impairment\, by increasing print size on the display graphics as the guest approaches. Or what if you want to follow a particular athlete\, with this pre-registered request\, the RFID chip will trigger as you enter a gallery to focus on the selected athlete. The “lab” gallery demonstrates the science and technology behind limb prosthetics as well as how an athlete’s performance is effected by performance enhancing drugs. \nPrice per person $173.00 includes motorcoach transportation\, admission fees\, lunch\, taxes & gratuities. \n\nAdventure #1: Royal Gorge Loop Half Day Jeep Tour – CLOSED\nDate: Tuesday\, July 30 – 1/2 Day Adventure – Check-In Time is 8:00 am – 50 person Max – \nCome learn about the geology\, paleontology\, and history of the Royal Gorge area on a ½ day narrated\, guided Jeep tour.
