Tour #1 – South Pass City Tour

Date: Saturday, August 22nd
Departs: 8:00 am – Returns approximately 5:00 pm

A short 80-mile drive to South Pass City will give history enthusiasts an opportunity to visit a magnificent historic site. South Pass City exploded into life during the gold rush of 1868. Over 2,000 people called this place home for a brief time. On this tour you can visit over 24 buildings and cabins that have been preserved and renovated to get a feel of the real “wild west”. Take a tour of the Carissa Mine and Mill and capture a sense of what it may have felt like to invest everything you had in 1867 into the proposition of gold and riches. Another site to not miss is the English Tunnel, a newly discovered and uncovered tunnel that trails into the dark, dampness of bright hopes. For more information visit their website at southpasscity.com.

This day-long tour will include a bus coordinator and lunch and possibly a treat along the way. Be sure to wear your walking shoes.

Price per person $62.00 Includes transportation, admission fees, lunch and all taxes and gratuities

Tour #2 – Ft. Bridger Historical Site

Date: Saturday, August 22nd
Departs: 8:00 am – Returns approximately 5:00 pm

About 70 Miles to the West of Rock Springs is the Ft. Bridger Historical Site, a place to really appreciate the splendor of early pioneers migrating west. Tour the buildings and enjoy the artifacts of the era. The reconstructed Bridger Trading Post is in the far end of the site and has items for sale from those days as well as items to purchase from today. There are a couple of re-enactors in the park, which always adds to the experience. The Visitor’s Center explains the 5 phases of the Fort and has an excellent movie as well.

Established in 1843 by Jim Bridger and Louis Vasquez as a trading post for travelers along the Overland Trails. Between 1853 and 1857 it was a Mormon Trading Post for emigrants to Utah. From 1857 to 1890 it was a US Army Post with several companies of infantry assigned to frontier protection. In addition to an authentic reconstruction of the Bridger-Vasquez fort, many historic structures from the military period still exist on site and are open for tours daily. For more information visit their website at wyoparks.wyo.gov.

This day-long tour will include a bus coordinator and box lunch. Be sure to wear your walking shoes.
