Virginia State Directors' September Message

The VA State / VA Wheels Birthday Bash Rally is history. We had 13 coaches attend the Rally at Country Waye RV Resort in Luray VA with great facilities, good weather, and wonderful food and fellowship as usual. I want to thank our co-host, Danny and Jeanette Templeton, for all their planning, ideas, and help that made the Rally such an enjoyable event. On arrival day the hosts provided a barbecue diner with all the fixing and huge cupcakes for desert. The next day we toured the New Market Civil War Battlefield with an excellent tour guide, enjoyed box lunches, and returned to the campgrounds for an outstanding potluck dinner. The next day started with a breakfast buffet at the beautifully restored Mimslyn Inn in Luray, followed by free time to tour the caverns and other places of interest in the area. The evening brought the Rally finally, The Birthday Bash, with everyone celebrating his or her birthday, including a gift exchange, and the 25th Anniversary of the Kountry Klub.

We are currently busy planning our trip to the International Rally in Goshen, IN, August 14/21. It is a great time to renew acquaintances, meet new friends, and just have a good time. Come be a part of the fun, sign up to volunteer!! The group from VA will get together during the Rally for an evening of food and socializing, details to be posted at the Rally bulletin board as soon as available. We hope to see a lot of you there. The Fall Rally for the VA Wheels will be in Charlottesville, VA, September 24th thru 26th at Misty Mountain Resort. See the VA Wheels article in this issue for details. We have started planning and making reservations for the VA State Rally at the Holiday Travel Resort in Virginia Beach May 23rd thru 26th, 2011. Put it on your calendar!!!! We wish everyone good health and safe travel.

Virginia State Directors' July Message

We hope everyone had an enjoyable Memorial Day holiday! The Rally season is in full swing here in Virginia, having just completed a wonderful trip to Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia for the first VA WHEELS rally of the season.

Joel and Lynette Carroll did a marvelous job of hosting the event, which was well attended. There were tours of historic Harper’s Ferry and the museum at the KOA campground, a miniature golf tournament, and more delicious food than you could imagine. Lots of side trips were taken to Gettysburg Battlefield, Antietam Battlefield, and area biking trails.

By the time this article gets to you the joint VA State / VA wheels Birthday Bash Rally in Luray, VA will be history. Thirteen couples signed up for a three day Birthday Party celebrating everyone’s birthdays and the 25th Anniversary of the Newmar Kountry Klub.

The VA Wheels are also planning a Fall Rally at Misty Mountain Resort in the historic Charlottesville area September 24th – 26th. Make your plans now to attend!!

We hope to see everyone at the 25th Anniversary International Rally in Goshen, IN August 14th – 21st 2010.

Safe Travels and Happy Camping,

Virginia Wheels Chapter President's September Message

Virginia Wheels celebrated the birthdays of the members and also the 25th anniversary of Newmar Kountry Klub at a Virginia State Rally in June at Luray, VA. We toured the New Market Battlefield, ate breakfast at an inn, and had a Birthday Bash! A huge thanks to the rally hosts, Jeanette & Danny Templeton and State Directors, John and Betty Warhol. The food was superb and the fellowship was as terrific as always when we get together!

The weekend of September 24, 25, & 26, Virginia Wheels members will be rallying in Charlottesville. This rally will be held at Mystic Mountain Resort. This rally will include a tour of Ash Lawn-Highlands, home of President James Monroe, 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. Virginia Wheels Chapter President's July Message

Virginia Wheels had another wonderful rally in historic Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia. A southern belle from the museum at the Harper’s Ferry KOA gave a talk about the Civil War. Cathy Marks won the rights to fire the cannon. The participants enjoyed a guided tour of historic Harper’s Ferry. The rally hosts planned a mini golf tournament that was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to Joel & Lynette Carroll who had the lowest score and to Lou & Don Wright who had the highest score!

Food is always plentiful at our rallies and this rally was no exception. A pot luck dinner, a “grilled your own” steak dinner, Belgian waffles & strawberries, and “breakfast in a bag” were among the culinary delights enjoyed by those attending the rally. What a great way to usher in spring and spend time with our RVing friends. A huge thanks to the rally hosts, Joel & Lynette Carroll, for a wonderfully planned and executed rally!

June 7- 10th will find Virginia Wheelers in Luray, VA attending our State Rally and Birthday Bash! A breakfast at an historic inn and a tour of the New Market Battlefield are two of the activities that have been planned by the rally co-hosts, Jeanette & Danny Templeton and Betty & John Warhol. We will be exchanging birthday gifts to recognize our birthdays and celebrate NKK’s 25th anniversary as well! We are looking forward to 4 days of fellowship.

In September, Virginia Wheels members will be rallying in Charlottesville. This rally will be held at Mystic Mountain Resort. There are many historic sites to explore in the Charlottesville area and we will have the opportunity to visit several of them. Make campground reservations by calling 1-888-647-8900 to secure your site for this rally being held September 24-26. Please contact us at sunsetryder@gmail.com if you need any additional information about this rally. Co-Hosts for this rally are Susan & John Letner and Jim & Bess Linville.

If you will be visiting Virginia that weekend, please feel free to join us. This is a “buddy” rally so you can bring some of your RV traveling friends! Don’t forget to check the Calendar of Events in each issue of the Konnection when planning trips.
