December 2017

This is the last Konnection article for 2017 as well as my last article as Virginia State Director. In the previous issue I touched on the International Rally in Sedalia and the Region Five in Williamsburg. I want to expand on both of those events. We arrived in Sedalia early to receive the 2018 display coaches supplied by TransWest out of Kansas City. As the coaches arrived my Volunteer team inspected them for damage, had them detailed, and placed them in the areas where they were to be displayed. Our Volunteer team was also responsible for opening and closing the coaches daily and removing them from the display area at the end of the Rally. I want to thank my team: Jim & Barb Watson, Phil & Charlene Budd, and Carl & Gayle Webber for Great support and a wonderful experience. Always VOLUNTEER when you attend a Kountry Klub event and enjoy the fun and camaraderie.

New State Directors

After applying for the Virginia State Directors job, it was announced at the International Rally that we, Michael and Marcy Vreeland have been appointed to that position effective Jan 1, 2018. Gary & Wanda Smith (Region Five Directors) suggested we introduce ourselves so here goes.

Hello fellow “Newmarians” (we tend to add “ians” to things like this for example folks from Ontario are Ontarioians, Quebec becomes Quebecians, and of course Virginia becomes Virginians, kind of rolls off the tongue doesn’t it) we are extremely honored that we have been selected to replace the current Virginia State Directors – John and Betty Warhol. They have done an excellent job working tirelessly for over eight years as State Directors helping make the Newmar Kountry Klub the premier RV club that it is. We would personally would like to thank them for all their efforts and especially for helping us get an understanding of what the State Director position entails. They have set the bar pretty high and we will strive to jump as high as we can so we can at least touch the bar. Of course to be honest we have found that gravity has a lot to do with jumping high and as we get older for some unexplained reason gravity tends to pull down a bit more than it use to but we will try very hard to reach that bar.

Summer once again is behind us and football season is in full swing. Our Virginia Wheels Rallies for this year are behind us along with the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. As usual it was another outstanding event put on by our International Directors, Bob and Bonnie Krieger. I want to thank all who volunteered. We could not function without all the volunteer support, KEEP IT UP FOLKS!!

The Region Five Rally in Williamsburg, VA was a great success as well, thanks to the efforts of Gary and Wanda Smith.

Don’t forget the Tampa SuperShow Rally in January 2018. Make your reservations ASAP!

August 2017

Thirty-nine VA Wheels and Newmar coach owners had an enjoyable get together at the 2017 Virginia State Rally at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in Greenwood, VA. Betty and I were hosts, with Mike and Marcy Vreeland as co-host. We were happy to have International Directors Bob and Bonnie Krieger and Member At Large Ron and Wanda Llewellyn with us at this rally. We were pleased to welcome Walter and Christina Baskin, Jerry and Bonney Gardner, Tom and Gloria Rezentes, Dennis and Cheryl Ryan, and David and Judy Steverson as first time attendees. As seems to be the case for VA State Rallies, the weather was an issue with lots of rain on Friday, however, we were able to tour Monticello and have lunch there as planned. The food and fellowship was great as usual!
