2018 International Rally Update
The 2018 International Rally will be held in Gillette, Wyoming at the Cam-Plex Multi Events Facilities. Rally parking will be Friday and Saturday, June 22 & 23, and rally dates will be Monday thru Saturday morning, June 25-30.
Immediately after the Sedalia Rally, we traveled to Gillette to begin working on the 2018 International Rally. As we mentioned earlier, we are setup to handle boon-docking for those that want to arrive a day early on Thursday, June 21st. The fee to boon-dock will be $10.
We are working to set-up some great tours for Gillette. Many details and the cost are being worked out, but we are planning for 3 full-day tours and two shorter local tours. One tour will be to the Battle of the Little Bighorn known as Custer’s Last Stand. Another tour will be to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorials. A third tour will probably be to Devil’s Tower and the Vore Buffalo Jump. Two short local tours will be to the Durham Buffalo Ranch and the Eagle Butte Coal Mine Tour. The tours will run on Saturday and Sunday June 23rd and 24th. Additional coal Mine tours will be running throughout the week – please make those reservations directly with the Gillette Visitor’s bureau.
Good news – for those who have never been to the Gillette Cam-Plex, it is a great facility for hosting events. All activities will be housed in the two main buildings – The Wyoming Building and Energy Hall. The two buildings are only about 100 feet from each other. Most of us will be located in the Boxelder campground. See the CAM-FLEX Facilities Map.
Parking is excellent around these two buildings and you should be able to drive your vehicle and easily park near these buildings. For this reason, we will have fewer shuttle carts than we have had in the past. Private golf cart rentals will be available, but it appears that the costs will be significantly higher than Sedalia and carts are really not necessary due to the ease of parking.
We have several changes we are making to the schedule to make things flow a little better this year. We are moving the golf Tournament to Wednesday to avoid conflict with the service sign-ups on Monday morning. We are separating the NKK business meeting from the closing ceremonies because the election of the Members at Large will require more time. So, we will hold the NKK business meeting around 4:30 on Thursday with the M-A-L elections taking place on Friday before the closing ceremonies and farewell dinner. And, fear not, the ever-popular cash drawings will be at closing ceremonies!
Pre-Rally activities on Saturday and Sunday include: Kickoff Entertainment Saturday Evening, Saturday and Sunday Optional Pre-Rally Tours, First Timers Meeting and Golf Meeting Sunday afternoon and a Sunday Worship Service.
Rally activities starting up Monday morning and thru the rally week include: vendor and supplier booths, service write-ups and techs doing repair work, Parts and the Klub store opens up, seminars and class schedules begin, golf tournament held, several catered meals, evening entertainment, games, regional social get-togethers and much more!!
At this time we have information on registering for Camp Freightliner. Vist the Camp Frieghtliner Website for details or to register. To take this class you must also be registered for the International Rally. They are offering two classes to choose from in conjunction with the rally. The first is before the rally and the second is during the rally.
